Palak dal fry - Palak recipe
Palak dal fry is basically a Odia dish belong to Odisha, and popular across India. Which is made with spinach and dal(lentils). It looks and tastes both buttery prepared with mouthwatering tampering. If you have never tasted it before, then you must try it.
Here, I'm sharing this recipe. Must try!
Ingredients:
1) Dal: 1.5 cup(I use Moong dal, masoor dal, toor dal and chana dal mixed you can add any yellow dal).
2) Spinach: (Chopped) I use baby spinach but, you can use regular one.
3) Onion: 1 medium sized (chopped)
4) Tomato: 1 medium sized (chopped)
5) Ginger: 2 inch (sliced)
6) Garlic: 4-5 (chopped)
7) Red Chilli: 2
8) Green Chilli: 2 (sliced into half)
9) Turmeric: 1/2 tsp
10) Cumin seeds: 2 tsp
11) Salt: 1 tsp (as per your taste)
12) Ghee or butter: 2 tsp
13) Mustard oil: 1 tsp
14) Hing(Asafetida): 1 pinch
15) Red chilli powdee: 1/2 tsp
16) Cumin powder: 1/2 tsp
Recipe:
1) Wash the dal and keep it aside.
2) Heat the ghee into cooker, add the cumin seeds, once it turns golden add chopped ginger, garlic and green chilli(save half chopped garlic for later on tampering), saute it on medium flame till it turns golden.
3) Add the chopped onions and saute it till it turns golden. After that add the tomatoes and saute it for 2 minutes.
4) Add the soaked dal and give it a mix for 2 minutes after that add the spinach and mix it with the dal and then add turmeric and salt now, mix it again and add some water (approx:1.5 glass). Cover the lid and wait till 3 whistles then off the flame.
5) Carefully open it and mix the dal into smooth texture with the help of spoon.
6) Prepare Tampering: heat the mustard oil into a pan on high flame, after it's well heated(until it changes it's color)low the flame, add cumin seeds, then add the remaining garlic and red chilli, give it a mix now add the red chilli powder, Cumin powder,hing after mixing it off the flame. Add this hot tampering to your palak dal and now, your Palak Dal Fry is ready to serve.
